Helping Hands Community Projects

Helping Hands roofing projects started in 1987 with our first community project. When a group of our staff decided to volunteer their time and materials to re-roof the cabins at the Christine Center, we knew that feeling, that sense of purpose, was something we’d value for many years to come.

Since then, we’ve been giving back to the communities we live and work in a few times each year.

We’ve had the opportunity to install new roofs on houses for families and provide repairs for individuals with various stories, like a child fighting cancer and extreme storm damage on a retired couple’s home.

Since 1983, we’ve also helped in more ways than just roofing. Every November, we donate hundreds of turkeys to community organizations supporting needy families. In 2020, we donated over 700 turkeys across Wisconsin!

Turkey Donations

Every year during Thanksgiving, Great Lakes Roofing gives away hundreds of turkeys to families in need. The giveaway was started in 1983 as part of the company’s Helping Hands program, an ongoing initiative to give back to the communities we live and work in. Over the years, Great Lakes Roofing Corp. has donated thousands of turkeys to hungry families to ensure they have a nice meal for the holiday season.

In 2020, we donated over 700 turkeys.
In 2021, we donated at over 50 different locations.
