Supplies Drive for Camp Hometown Heroes
In Preparation for Summer Camp 2023
Who is Camp Hometown Heroes?
Located near Campblesport, Wisconsin, Camp Hometown Heroes offers free summer camp for the children and siblings of fallen US Service Members and First Responders. The mission of this little summer camp is incomparable! It reaches across state lines (and every other line of demarcation) as a niche camp serving a community that is scattered across the nation.
For three weeks each summer, they bring kids (ages 7-17) to a beautiful wooded campus to offer healing among peers through the freedom of summertime fun. Kids attending Camp Hometown Heroes get to experience the joy of all things summer camp: swimming, hiking, slip and slide, cabins, campfires, counselors and bunkmates, to name a few. They are also supported on their grief journey, encouraged to heal, and invited to grow.
How we’re helping
CHH is one of our adopted community partners during our 40th anniversary celebration, and we are proud to support their mission. On Monday, May 15th our staff are invited to participate in an on-site work day to help prepare the camp property for summer campers. We’ll be completing a variety of tasks ranging from cleaning the cabins to prepping firewood.
We’ll also be delivering items gathered from a supplies drive. Our goal is to fill our trailer with supplies. YOU can help make summer camp unforgettably fun by donating items from their wish list.
Supplies Drive – What to Donate
- Snacks! – lunch-sized, individually packaged
- Art supplies
- Battery-operated tea lights
- Outdoor toys/balls
Community Partners Join In
Contribute to the supplies drive by bringing your donations to your nearest Great Lakes Roofing branch. (Or have Amazon deliver them to us)
Near our Milwaukee branch, there are also two drop-off locations: Dick’s Sporting Goods in Grafton and Starting Point Fitness in Germantown.
In hopes of making a big impact on our supplies drive goal, we reached out to some of our partners. It’s incredible to ask for help and be met with a resounding “YES!”
Many thanks to State Machine Tool Co., HNI, Focus Digital, Chortek, Employee Benefits Group, TB Productions, and Collins State Bank for their contributions.
Other Ways You Can Help
CHH relies on volunteers and donors, and a small group of paid staff to make the magic happen.
Do you hear a calling to serve through volunteerism? Health Center Staff, Housekeeping, Security, Mentors, and more volunteer during camp.
No time to volunteer this summer?
Supplies, financial contributions, and spreading the word all support the camp, its mission, and the campers.
